LEV Testing Overview
A Thorough Examination and Test (TExT) is a legal requirement under COSHH Regulation 9, ensuring that Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems continue to effectively control employee exposure to hazardous substances.
LEV systems must be tested at least every 14 months, though Certivent recommends testing every 12 months to allow time for re-inspection if needed. Some high-risk processes may require more frequent checks, as outlined in COSHH Schedule 4. Reports must be retained for a minimum of five years.
Certivent’s team includes BOHS Certified LEV Testing Specialists with recognized professional credentials, and they routinely support clients across construction, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and heavy industry.
Frequently Asked Question
A: The cost of LEV testing depends on the size and type of system, the contaminants and the location. Get in touch with us at sales@certivent.co.uk and we will provide a detailed quote to test your systems.
A: A test report will be issued and the system labelled with a pass or fail label. The report will contain a high level summary with action points, a schematic of the system and the full findings of the qualitative and quantitative tests.
A: The time taken will depend on the size and type of system, usually anything from 1 hour to 6 hours on site. However we always recommend that the test is carried out whilst the system is under normal working conditions – this means less downtime to your facility whilst the test is being carried out.
